World AIDS Day 2010: Statement for the Christian United Church

The Christian United Church declares that in our denomination, people living with HIV/AIDS are welcome, that will continue to work for a cure, serve with compassion and create a community, where our brothers and sisters will not face stimga in our churches. We remember our brothers and sisters who have died from AIDS and support those living with HIV/AIDS.

September 11th: Let us boldy proclaim our faith and freedom!

As we prepare to remember the tragic events of September 11th, nine years ago, let us take the time to pray for the families who lost love ones and for our country in which this event has been etched into our memory so vividly. Those who committed such horrid acts have tried to cause us to be afraid. We must celebrate our freedoms in joy and not in fear. We have seen played out in the media the dangers of religious extremism by Christians, with the threat of burning the Quran. Christians should never be threatened by the ideas of another religion. We should proclaim boldly our belief that we are followers of Jesus Christ, the fullest of the revelation of God. We should boldly proclaim our passion for loving all of God’s creation and creatures. We should boldly proclaim that when we love our neighbors as Jesus taught us, those neighbors include Muslims, Hindus, people of the Jewish faith and people of no faith. We should boldly proclaim that when love God with our mind, body and soul, there is no room for hate in us!
We should boldly proclaim compassion for all people and seek justice for all. September 11th is a day for us to remember, but also to move forward in our faith and the freedoms that are protected in our constitution.
When Jesus appeared after his resurrection his words to his followers, who felt threaten and went into hiding out of fear, was “Be not afraid” These words are just as relevant today as they were in the early church. Be not afraid for God is with us in our sorrows and our joys. Be not afraid, because freedom is a right for all people, even those whom we disagree with their ideas. Be not afraid to boldly proclaim your faith and freedom.

Joyful Video for Children affected by HIV/AIDS

I wanted to share the work of Jerry Hughes and Hughes Foundation. As we must working daily to serve people living HIV/AIDS as we know that hands of God are extended by our care and compassion to serve one another.

The face of God is reflected in all of us, those serving and those being served. I challenge our church and the entire Christian community to see the oneness of humanity, which is the image of God moving on the earth.

Today,Let's be disciples of Christ, who make a difference in the world!

My Deepest Passion is Worship

One of my deepest passion is the convergence of African American culture and liturgical worship. I believe that ordered worship allows the Christian person to focus on God for their object of worship and be renewed by worship to go into the world to share not only the good news of the gospel, but to be active seekers of justice for all people. As an early saint stated: You can not received the Body of Christ in the Eucharist and ignore that Body of Christ (people).

I'm particular interested in the recovery of sacred music in the African American community. Hymns, spirituals and anthems. I believe that Gospel music has an ability to move the human heart and body, when it's words are directed at the right object for worship. The Holy Trinity.

The Christian United Church - Inclusive Christian Connectional Church

There were three (3) people of God (Bishop David Strong, Rev. Mena Johnson and Rev. Mike Daggett) who met and designed the future of the Christian United Church (CUC) on November 07, 2009 at Sojourner Truth Church in Seattle, Washington, USA. With the leading of the Holy Spirit they planned the first annual conference at Holiday Inn, SeaTac, Washington on April 16-18, 2010. They also penned the ministry, missions and finances of the CUC. They also designed the credentialing process of incoming ministers.

After the plans and programs were set, the charismatic leader of the CUC, Bishop Strong, invited several ministers to join in their cause and sign up as pastors of the new church. The First Annual Conference of the CUC held as planned in the mind of God. As of April 18 there were nine (9) itinerant ministers (elders) counted in the first annual conference and they were Revs. David Strong, Mena Johnson, Jerry Etheridge, Jay Neely, AJ Severns, Harriet Walden, Sergio E. Arevalo, Jr., Michael Daggett, and Szymon Niemiec. Revs. Daggett and Niemiec were ordained as Elders in the First AC on April 18, 2010. Rev. Sharail Butler was also ordained as Deacon.
Bishop Strong read the draft of the CUC Book of Discipline, and after meticulous discussions it was moved by Dr. Arevalo and approved unanimously by all members of the AC.
